One goal in each half and a solid defensive effort in both halves carried the Oakridge Eagles to a 2-0 league soccer victory over the Shelby Tigers.

Nicole Karel scored off an assist from Jade Ware 11 minutes into the game. In the second half, Hannah Lauser scored with assistance from Brandy Weaver.

“Our defenders, Megan Larabree, Beka Shepherd, Hannah Jones and McKenzie Davis did  a good job eliminating any kind of attacking threat by Shelby,” said Oakridge coach Jeff Lohman.

Oakridge had a 14-2 advantage in shots on goal. Goalkeeper McKayla Wall needed just two saves for the shutout.

“We did a good job, once again, with strong periods of possession,” Lohman said. “We are still looking for some good decision making and creativity in the final third.”
