The Orchard View boys track roster is a bit lean in numbers, but there is plenty of quality for the upcoming season.
“The Orchard View boys track team features a strong, yet small group of returning seniors that will look to compete and improve each week,” said Coach Neil Sladick, whose team finished 7-0 in the Lakes 8 a year ago. “The senior athletes will need to lead the way for a young group of inexperienced runners, throwers and jumpers.”
Key returnees include Justin Hunter-Smith (hurdles, long jump), Keith Melton (sprints), Al Hairston (sprints), Cameron Kroening (800, 1600) and Sloan Bowen (shot put).
Promising newcomers are Matias Keyes (hurdles), Jeff Dixon (800), Arvid Lodgberg (400) and Kris Wells (hurdles).
“With depth and experience being an issue in several areas, some athletes will be needed to improve and sacrifice so they may compete in the Lakes 8 this season,”Sladick said.
