The Western Michigan Christian Warrior girls track team is coming off a third-place finish at regionals and sending seven members of their team to the state meet a year ago.

“The team is a good mix of seasoned veterans and promising rookies, all of whom have a lot of versatility so it will be interesting to see what events they end up excelling in at the end of the season,” Coach Josh Scholma said.

WMC is led by seniors Rachel Bruinsma, a state qualifier in the high jump last spring, along with Jasmine Jackson, a transfer who qualified in the 400 a year ago.

Other key returnees include junior state qualifier Adrienne Aardema (3,200) and fellow juniors Elizabeth Boeve (middle distance) and Olivia Varnado (shot put/discus).

One of the top newcomers is sophomore hurdler Hannah Hughes, who is in her first year of track.
