Kent City captured the title at Hesperia’s baseball tournament on Saturday. Brothers Randy and Austin Thompson pitched a pair of gems in the two Eagle wins.

Austin Thompson came through in the 2-0 championship win over Hesperia. Austin pitched a complete-game shutout with eight strikeouts and gave up four hits.

Younger brother, Randy Thompson, cleaned up in the Eagle’s  3-1 win over White Cloud with seven strikeouts. He gave up four hits and one walk.

In the championship game, Kent City got on the board early in the first inning on a Kyle Boyd RBI single that drove in Austin Thompson, who reached base on a single.

Tyler Hawkins had a double for Kent City, which had eight hits as a team.

Jake Krueger, Justin Phillips, Travis Hielkem and Randy Thompson each had hits for Kent City. Kyle Busse scored a run.

Kent City got on the board early in its first game against White Cloud.

Jake Krueger scored on Austin Thompson’s RBI in the first inning.

The Eagles added two more runs in the fourth as KJ Herremans and Cody Chipman scored runs.

Jake Krueger, Austin Thompson, Kyle Boyd and KJ Herremans all had two hits for Kent City. Cody Chipman had a double and Ryan Busse hit a single.
