Jacob Buchberger allowed three hits, no runs and struck out 10 and led the Montague Wildcats to a 3-0 nonleague baseball victory over Fruitport on Thursday.

It was Montague’s fourth complete-game shutout of the season.

Tristen Schultz had an RBI single in the second while Chase Casebolt and Schultz had RBI singles in the sixth to account for the Wildcats’ scoring.

Casebolt and Schultz each had two hits for Montague (14-3).

Fruitport’s came off the bats of Kyle Fialek, Travis Grimm and Amilio Flores.

“We were very aggressive at the plate and hit a lot of balls right at their defense,” Wildcat coach Kevin Buchberger said. “They made very play and we couldn’t get much offense going. Buchberger pitched a great game and kept their hitters off balance.”

Fruitport pitcher Tyler Fehler allowed three earned runs in six innings of work.
