Muskegon Lumberjack defenseman Michael Brodzinski has been honored as one of eight players named to the 2012-13 USHL All-Rookie Team.

Brodzinski, a native of Blaine, Minn., finished the season with 34 points (16 goals and 18 assists) to go along with a plus-11 rating in 65 games combined between the regular season and playoffs.  The 16 goals during the regular season led all USHL defensemen with nine of them coming on the power play.  The nine power-play goals ranked him second among league defensemen.

This past season, Brodzinski’s 33 points during the regular season ranked him third on the team and he accounted for almost 31 percent (30.6) of the Lumberjacks’ scoring done by defensemen.  The blue liner was also named as the USHL’s “Defenseman of the Week” twice this past season during the weeks of November 19th and March 11th.

Brodzinski was also one of four Lumberjacks selected to compete in the 2012 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Muskegon this past January.

He is committed to play college hockey for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers in the newly formed Big Ten Conference.
