The Fruitport Trojans’ Travis Grimm pitched a no-hitter in the first game sparked a doubleheader sweep of the Grant Tigers in a Lakes 8 baseball twinbill on Tuesday.

Fruitport won the opener 11-0 on the strength of Grimm’s pitching and eight first-inning runs. The Trojans won the second game 7-3.In the opener, Grimm pitched five innings with six strikeouts and one walk. Leading hitters were Jacob Breese, Kyle Fialek and Austin Curtis with two hits each.

In the nightcap, it was Tyler Fehler taking the mound and striking out four. Austin Curtis came on in relief and posted the victory.

Grant grabbed the early lead only to see the Trojans battle back to tie the game in the fifth inning. Four runs in the sixth completed the game’s scoring.

Alex Bowen had three hits for the Trojans and Brandon Lee had two.

Grant was led by Travis Puff with a pair of hits. Fruitport is 13-6 overall and finished 9-3 in league play.
