It was a tough day against tough competition for the Western Michigan Christian soccer team. WMC finished 0-2-1.
In the second game of the day, WMC dropped a 4-3 decision to Forest Hills Northern, which took a 2-0 lead in the first half. WMC received a goal from Alexys Riksen and WMC was within 2-1 at the half.
Second-half goals by Riksen and Julie Merz tied the game at 3-all, but FHN scored 1 minute after Merz tying goal and that turned out to be the game winner.
In the final game, Oakridge defeated WM Christian 2-0.
“We played Oakridge earlier in the year and tied them in an 80-minute game,” WMC coach David Hulings said. “Today they had the better of us and were the better team.  You could see why they are ranked in D3.
“We had a ‘effort’ problem in this last game,” Hulings said. “Oakridge had played a game right before this and they outplayed us.  We were the team that looked tired. Hopefully, we will be able to learn from this game and the day on how to play hard from the beginning whistle of the day to the ending whistle of the day.”
