The Oakridge Eagles and Whitehall Vikings split a pair of WMC baseball games on Tuesday. Whitehall won the opener 4-2 and Oakridge took the second game 14-4.

In the opener, Whitehall scored two runs in the first inning on a Ray Copley double and an RBI single by Ian Zweigle to take a 3-0 lead. A groundout by Zweigle played another run in the fifth inning.

Copley finished with a triple, a double, two RBI and two runs scored.

Jordan Fairchild led Oakridge with three hits, including a triple, and an RBI. Brock Gonyon had two hits and knocked in one run.

Whitehall’s Zach Zweigle pitched seven innings, allowed two runs and eight hits. He struck out seven and allowed one walk.

Oakridge’s Jordan Wahr allowed four runs and five hits in seven innings of work. He had four walks and four strikeouts.

The Eagles jumped out quickly in the nightcap with five runs on five hits in the second inning and added another five-spot on six hits in the third inning. Oakridge finished with 17 hits.

Noah Robart finished with two hits for Whitehall. That included a double and two RBI. Copley had two hits, one a double, and one RBI.

Fairchild had four more hits for the Eagles, including two doubles, an RBI and two runs. Gonyon had a triple, a double, a single and knocked in four runs and James Abraitis had a solo home run and a double.

Francis Decker allowed four runs and seven hits for the Eagles. He had three walks.

“Oakridge is a quality team,” Whitehall coach Warren Zweigle said. “As good as we played in the first game, we played equally as bad in the second”
