Three area golfers were acknowledged by the Michigan Interscholastic Golf Coaches Association as First-Team All State.

Mona Shores enjoyed a successful season after falling just short of being state-runners up in Division I. A big part of that success was because of three studs on the golf course.

Reed Hyrnewich led Mona Shores through the season and was honored as First-Team All State. Muskegon’s Male Athlete of the Year was also place on the MIGCA’s super team which is made up of eight of Michigan’s best high school golfers.

Also being named First-Team All State was Joel Maire from Mona Shores.

Andrew VanAelst was honored by the MIGCA as First-Team All State.

The three Mona Shores golfers are all seniors and will be tough for Sailor coach Scott Volkmann to see them move on to college.

Volkman was at the Lincoln Golf Club during the Henderson Memorial and said that he has a new crop of players coming up but losing Hyrnewich, Maire, and VanAelst will be tough to fill.
