Muskegon Community College opened up its season with a 3-2 overtime win over No. 9 ranked School Craft. The Jayhawk win was their first over Schoolcraft in the young program’s history.

Austin Blaski scored the game winner for the Jayhawks in overtime on a Zachary Sutton assist..

“I was proud of the way we didn’t get down after being down twice by a goal and then winning the game six minutes into OT,” said MCC coach Ben Ritsema.

The two teams traded goal for goal as School Craft opened up scoring 23 minutes into the game on a Romario Georgis goal.

Eric Hilt tied things up 1-1 for MCC on a assist from Aaron Dault early in the second half.

Zachary Sutton would tie up the score 2-2 for MCC just six minutes after a Schoolcraft goal.

The Jayhawks played evenly with Schoolcraft with 10 shots apiece for both teams.

Logan Holland posted the win for MCC with eight saves.

“Great win by the boys today to start the season,” said MCC head coach Ben Ritsema. “Defense played great, Brandon Prim, Brandon Gillikin, Kyle Wansten, and (Aaron) Dault kept us in the game along with some great saves by (Logan) Holland,”
