Finishing 25th in the nation and 4th at regionals last season was not enough for MCC’s women’s cross country team. The Jayhawks look to improve in 2013 and will be lead by freshman Andrea Lavigne. The Mason County Central grad ran a 19:22 5k for the Spartans last year.

A solid pack of freshman will be following Lavigne and all come to MCC from area high schools.

Erika Bayak (North Muskegon), Summer Hussey (Reeths-Puffer), Samantha Eely (Oakridge), Brielle Johnson (North Muskegon) and Claudia Melton (Grand Haven) will all compete for the 2nd through 6th positions.

Sophomore Meagan Lavin (Hesperia) and freshman Miranda Buckwald (Grand Haven) will also push the core group of runners as the season progresses.
