Fruitport gave Rockford a challenge in the first half but didn’t have a lot of second-half answers in its 5-1 loss Thursday.
Alec Parker’s chip shot midway through the first half pushed Fruitport to trail 2-1 at halftime. Dalton Mullennix assisted on the goal.
Rockford outshot Fruitport 15-3 as Trojan goalie Conner Deneen made 10 saves.
“This was the best Rockford team we have ever played,” said Fruitport coach Greg Kobylak. “We showed a lot of positive things we will continue to build on and finding ways to create scoring chances.”
