The Spring Lake boys soccer team learned a lesson about the value of patience Wednesday.

The Lakers trailed host Mona Shores by a goal for most of the match, and appeared to be headed for a disappointing defeat.

But they finally broke through late in the match with two goals, including the game winner from Keegan George with five minutes remaining, to steal a 2-1 non-conference victory.

Christian Zurchauer scored the lone goal for the Sailors in the first half, giving the hosts a 1-0 halftime edge. But Spring Lake’s Kyle Zietlow broke through with a goal with about 15 minutes remaining to tie the contest before George finished the scoring to secure the Laker victory.

Goaltender Joe Czajka has six saves for Spring Lake while Eli Flowers had  four saves for Mona Shores..
