The Fruitport boys soccer team remained unbeaten in Lakes 8 Conference play Tuesday with an 8-0 shutout of Fremont.

“Our confidence is up as we head into the most important part of our schedule,” said Fruitport coach Greg Kobylak. “We continue to look for areas of improvement and we’ll need that mentality to achieve the goals we have set for ourselves.”

It’s hard to picture how the Trojans could have improved offensively against the Packers.

Zach Gilson led the way with three goals, including two in the first half. Dalton Mullennix added two goals and an assist, Nick Carrier had one goal and two assists, Noah Hendricks contributed one goal and one assist and Andrew Frost chipped in two assists.

Matt Umstead capped off the scoring for Fruitport with a flying header on a corner kick from Mullennix late in the contest. It was his first goal of the season.

Conner Deneen had five saves in goal for the Trojans, who improved to 6-2-3 overall and 3-0 in league action.
