Muskegon Community College men’s and women’s cross country teams both finished second at the Jackson Community College invite on Friday.

Lansing Community College won both events as the Jayhaw men finished second behind with a team score of 50. For the women, MCC finished behind the Stars (18) with a team total of 45.

Esrom Woldemicheal led the Jayhawk men with a second place finish and a 21:23.2 time.

Austin Elliott (22:12.1) finished in 10th place, Jacob Baker (22:17.6) followed at the 11th spot and Mathias Waterstradt (22:45.1) broke the top 20 with a 19th place finish. Logan Irey (23:05.8) finished 22nd for the Jayhawks.

Summer Hussey led on the women’s side for MCC finishing in fourth place on a 22:20.5 time.

Finishing in a pack were four Jayhawk lady runners. Samanth Eely (24:12.4), Erika Bayak (24:31.6), Claudia Melton (24:31.8) and Brielle Johnson (24:46.3) all finished consecutively from 14th through 17th place.
