Second half offense pushed Mona Shores over Muskegon in the Sailors’ OK Black conference opener.

The Sailors won 5-0 after leading 1-0 at halftime.

Christian Zurchauer gave Mona Shores the 1-0 lead after he dribbled around two defenders and scored with three minutes left in the first half.

Mona Shores didn’t let up in the opening of the second half as Nathan Hoover chipped a shot over a Big Red keeper Anthony Salazar just three minutes in. Hoover also finished with a pair of assists.

Devin Buit gave the Sailors a 3-0 lead on a rebound after he rattled the crossbar with a shot.

Destin Morley’s goal from 40 yards out surprised Muskegon goalie Salazar after the Morley shot ricocheted off the inside of the left post and a 4-0 lead.

Andreas Smith finished off Mona Shores scoring.

Nathan Mars posted the shutout in goal with three saves as Mona Shores improved to 5-2 overall and 1-0 in the OK Black.
