FRUITPORT – The North Muskegon volleyball squad had quite a good weekend, winning last Saturday the Fruitport Calvary Invitational title.

Although the Norse split with the host Eagles 23-25, 25-23, and Potter’s Hose 25-23, 18-25, and also defeating Hesperia 25-19, 25-23, all in pool play, North Muskegon got the rematch it wanted, defeating Calvary 25-22, 18-25, 15-8 in the semifinals.

In the finals, the Norse, taking on Hesperia – which had battled out of the fifth seed to find a spot in the invite finals –  quickly dispatched the Panthers 25-20, 25-16 to take the title.

“It was a long day, with many close matches,” said Norse head coach Doug Clark. “The girls kept their focus and intensity out on the court, and came through numerous times when we needed a swing in momentum.”
