Well, well, well here we are again. It’s Week 4 of high school football and I have to tell you, I’m feeling a little better about myself.

Moving up from being tied in the Week-3 basement with Dave Tomczak to being knotted at the fifth spot with area guru Ron Rop… That’s something to write home to tell ma and dad about (well maybe not to dad, his five basketball state championships make fifth place in our football picks standings seems just a bit silly).

But why not get into this 2013 football season, there are plenty of reason to do so.

Muskegon was beyond entertaining to watch against Rockford in Week 3 and its matchup against Lowell will be a history lesson.

Hesperia is 3-0 and faces Holton this week. That means the Panthers have a very good chance at being 4-0.

I do have to admit I blew it on Shores last week for my only loss and this week I’ll look to redeem myself when it faces Grand Haven at home.

Big props to Mark Lewis and the ole’ announce Jimmy Moyes. They both went 16-1 in their Week 3 picks (as did I!) and I’m guessing they have a good shot at making similar waves in Week 4.

Steve Gunn continues to lead us and quite frankly I just don’t know how. The guy is like a ground hog when it comes to football. He peeks his face up once in a while only to stutter back down to his underground layer. How does he not scare himself into making a bad pick? This Friday he trips.

I also have a feeling Shawn Liverance and Mark Lewis are going to more than merely scare Mr. Gunn this week.
