Spring Lake needed overtime to avert an upset by the Grant Tigers on Friday night.

The Lakers needed a field goal in overtime to earn a 17-14 Lakes 8 win over the Tigers.

The Lakers led 14-7 at halftime, but Grant forced overtime with a third quarter touchdown.

Jake Frederick had a rushing score for the Lakers and Chase Slagboom added a receiving touchdown.

Spring Lake quarterback Mark Williamson was 6-of-10 passing for 78 yards and Slagboom caught two passes for 71 yards.

Frederick gained 76 yards on 13 carries to lead Spring Lake and Charlie Warber rushed six times for 61 yards.

Slagboom added an interception for the Lakers on defense.

Riley Foster and Brian Hitts scored rushing touchdowns for the Tigers.
