The Muskegon Big Reds are clicking on all cylinders heading into next week’s conference championship showdown with Reeths-Puffer.

They demonstrated that with a 54-0 throttling of Zeeland East Friday in O-K Black football action.

Muskegon exploded for 26 points in the first quarter against the Chix and never looked back. It was the third straight loss for Zeeland East, the defending league champion that was expected to contend for the title again this fall.

Quarterback Deshaun Thrower paced the Big Reds through the air and on the ground, completing 12 of 15 passes for 172 yards and rushing 10 times for 145 yards.

Joeviair Kennedy had two touchdown catches for Muskegon while Caleb Washington contributed 60 yards rushing.

Muskegon improved to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the conference.
