The Fruitport Trojans may have lost their chance for a state playoff bid after falling 31-7 to DeWitt Friday night.

The Trojans are now 5-4, and will have to wait until Sunday to see if they can sneak in the playoffs. Six wins would have clinched a postseason berth, but some teams manage to qualify with five wins.

Fruitport took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on a six-yard touchdown pass from Luc Kostamo to Mitchell Reyes. But it was all downhill from there for the Trojans.

Derek White rushed 17 times for 85 yards to lead the Trojans. Kostamo was 5-of-19 passing while Travis Grimm caught one pass for 28 yards.

Grimm and Nathan Kriger led Fruitport defensively with 10 tackles apiece while Andrew Slocum and Zach Garber each picked off a pass.
