GRAND HAVEN — Funeral arrangements have been announced for former Grand Haven High School football coach Don Constant who died on Friday, Oct. 4.

Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 11, 4-7 p.m. at the VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home, 620 Washington, Grand Haven.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, Second Reformed Church, 1000 Waverly, Grand Haven.

Constant, a Grand Haven graduate, later taught and coached at the school. He served as the varsity assistant for the late Gene Rothi and then became the head football coach for the Buccaneers in 1962. He had a 71-46-9 season for 14 seasons while coaching Grand Haven through the 1975 season.

The late Hal Henrickson, the only assistant coach Constant had for most of his career as the head coach at Grand Haven and a longtime friend, had died a week earlier than Constant.
