Holton wins Silver Bracket title at Shelby Tournament

SHELBY – Holton saved the best for last Saturday.

After going 3-3 in pool play at the Shelby Tournament, the Red Devils downed Bear Lake and Newaygo in the semis and finals to take home the Silver Bracket trophy.

In pool play, Holton fell to Shelby 14-25, 8-25, split with Hesperia 25-23, 23-25, and swept Newaygo 25-16, 25-14.

The Red Devils dispatched Bear Lake 25-18, 25-17 in the semifinals to advance. In the finals, Holton downed Newaygo again, this time 25-15, 25-9.

Rachel Younts led Holton with 41 points, 16 aces, 28 kills and 25 digs, while Jacki Stone had 37 kills and  36 digs, and Shelbey Younts had 21 points, five aces and 72 assists.

Shauna Kiogima added 22 points and seven aces for the Red Devils.
