MANISTEE – The Ludington Oriole girls golf team narrowly missed a state-meet qualifying score, finishing fourth overall with a team score of 381, one back from third-place Grayling.

Grayling, along with meet winner Harbor Springs and second-place Maple City Glen Lake, are heading to next weekend’s Div. 4 state meet at Bedford Valley Golf Course in Kalamazoo.

Ludington’s efforts were paced by Sam MacDonnell, who finished ninth overall with a stroke score of 90.

Western Michigan Christian’s Abbie Alfree qualified for the state meet as an individual, leading the Warriors with an 86, good for sixth overall. The Warriors finished sixth with 400 strokes.

Whitehall, led by Taylor Mikkelson’s (101) 25th-place effort, was ninth overall.

Muskegon Catholic, which didn’t field enough players for a team score, was led by Lauren Bliss, who finished 16th overall with a score of 96.
