The Muskegon Lumberjacks ended the weekend on a sour note Sunday with a 7-3 loss to Team USA in Ann Arbor.
Team USA jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period with goals from Jack Eichel and Dylan Pavelek. Muskegon cut its deficit to 2-1 at the first intermission with a goal from Carson Gatt.
Eichel and Alex Tuch each scored in the second period for Team USA while Matt Iacopelli tallied for Muskegon.
Muskegon cut Team USA’s lead to 4-3 in the third period with another goal from Iacopelli, but the hosts pulled away with goals from Tuch, Eichel and Louis Belpedio.
The Lumberjacks, now 5-4-1, will return to action next weekend with games in Lincoln on Saturday and Omaha on Sunday.
They will return home to the L.C. Walker Arena Saturday, Nov. 2 against Cedar Rapids.
