MUSKEGON – Muskegon Lumberjack defenseman Chaz Switzer has decided to commit to Miami (Ohio) University, the Lumberjacks announced Thursday.
Switzer, a Muskegon-native, will join the Redhawks, who play in the newly formed National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC), at the conclusion of his junior career.
In 2012, Switzer signed a three-year tender with the Lumberjacks. Previous to that, he spent three seasons in the Plymouth Township-based Compuware Hockey Program, scoring a goal and 17 assists across 72 games.
“After visiting the campus and meeting with the coaching staff, I felt that Miami (Ohio) was the perfect fit for me because it is close to home and I like how they develop their defensemen,” said Switzer. “It will also help that I will have one of my good friends and former Compuware teammate Gordie Green playing alongside me at college. I am excited to become a member of ‘The Brotherhood.’”
Switzer has made four regular season appearances, and appeared in all five preseason games as well, totaling two assists and a plus-one rating.
