North Muskegon’s playoff hopes took a big hit Friday night with a heartbreaking 17-14 loss  to host Maple City Glen Lake.

The Norse will have to wait to see if they can sneak in to the playoffs with a 5-4 record. The state playoff brackets will be announced Sunday.

Maple City Glen Lake took a 7-0 lead in the opening quarter before the Norse tied the game on Brody Scott’s 6-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

Maple City Glen Lake took a 10-7 lead into halftime, but the Norse regained a 14-10 lead in the third quarter on Vernonell Smith’s 23-yard scoring run. A fourth-quarter touchdown sealed the win for the hosts.

Scott was 8-of-15 passing for 59 yards for North Muskegon  and Logan Waller caught two passes for 29 yards.

Smith (60), Holden Vanderweele (57) and Waller (47) were the leading rushers for the Norse.
