There’s never a dull moment over here at the Local Sports Journal. We fight to publish stories every day for Muskegon area sports fans and each week the LSJ crew goes at each other in the battle of football picks.

Yes, we are going at it again in Week 6.

A couple surprising jumps happened in the football picks standings after Week 5. Shawn Liverance and myself almost came out perfect with 15-1 records. Our lone losses came as the Bucs down in Grand Haven couldn’t muster a highly sought after road win over East Kentwood. Unfortunately Grand Haven will have its hands full again this week in its matchup with Holland West Ottawa.

Liverance jumped up to third place and I moved up to the fifth spot behind the leader Steve Gunn.

One thing we know as we line up against our fellow sports writers is we have our hands full in Week 6.

The only two undefeated area teams of Oakridge and Shelby will battle on Friday. The winner most likely walks away with a West Michgian Conference title and  a playoff berth.

Can Reeths-Puffer pull out an upset as it travels to Zeeland East? Will North Muskegon continue its quest for the playoffs with a victory over visiting Ravenna?

The scores will tell us all on Friday night.

I do know one thing, I’m going to like this fight. But I can hear a question in the air and that’s thunder. Friday’s weather just might be a factor in who wins and who falls in Week 6.
