The Spring Lake volleyball team got off to a strong start Tuesday, winning two of the first three sets, but eventually dropped a Lakes 8 Conference volleyball match to Ludington 21-25, 25-16, 27-29, 29-27, 15-7.

“We should have won set four,” said Spring Lake Coach Saral Bulthuis, whose team dropped to 18-5-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play. “We had great momentum in coming from behind but then had some miscommunication and made some bad choices. Ludington played more consistently than we did.”

Kelsee Zuidema had 23 kills and 20 digs for the Lakers. Lydia Suchecki added 12 kills, Courtney Kyser had 8 kills and five assists, Karley Engelsman had 22 assists and Abby Moe had 21 assists.

Rachel Pennington and Maya Denslow added 34 and 16 digs, respectively, for Spring Lake.
