The Spring Lake varsity volleyball team finished second in the Lakes 8 Conference tournament Saturday, winning two matches before falling to Grant in the title match 3-1.

The Lakers, now 34-8-2 overall and 6-3 in league play, finished second overall in the conference this season.

Spring Lake defeated Orchard View in the first round and Ludington in the semifinals in straight sets. But the Lakers dropped the first two sets of the title match to Grant, won the third, then lost the fourth and the match.

Leading Spring Lake on the day were Kelsee Zuidema (56 kills, 36 digs, 5 aces, 13 points), Courtney Kyser (18 kills, 23 points, 5 aces, 9 blocks), Breanna Williams (13 kills, 17 points, 3 aces, 4 blocks), Lydia Suchecki (12 kills, 23 points,  3 aces, 4 blocks, 14 digs), Karley Engelsman (32 points, 3 aces, digs 20, 3 blocks, 101 assists), Libero Rachel Pennington (32 digs, 16 points. 4 aces), Maya Denslow (34 digs) and Bre Burns (5 kills, 6 blocks).
