Muskegon Catholic went the distance against Fruitport Calvary Christian in the Class D district finals on Thursday night. The Crusaders beat the Eagles in five games 25-23, 21-25, 25-21, 19-25, and 15-10.

The district championship win was MCC’s fourth straight.

The Crusaders used a balanced attack against a Fruitport squad led by Biranna Zehr and Taylor Richards.

Lauren Prince led Muskegon Catholic with nine kills, nine service points and four blocks. Micaela Halloran had 13 assists along with 14 service points and three aces. Deanna DeTorres had nine services points, five aces and and six kills. Zhane Harris had six blocks and six kills for MCC.

Richards led Fruitport Calvary Christian at the net with 13 blocks and 27 kills. Zehr had 39 assists with 26 digs and three aces. Sophia Zelenka had 23 digs, 12 kills and three blocks.
