The Muskegon Lumberjacks announced that affiliate defenseman Luc Snuggerud has been named the USHL’S “CCM Co-Defenseman of the Week.”

He shared the honor with Tucker Poolman of the Omaha Lancers.

Snuggerud, the Eden Prairie, Minn. native, recorded one goal and two assists to go along with a plus-3 rating during the three home games played last week against Cedar Rapids (Wednesday) and Dubuque (Friday and Saturday).

“It’s an honor to be named ‘Co-Defenseman of the Week’ in such a prestigious league like the USHL,” said Snuggerud.  “I’ve got to give credit to my teammates for being so great and giving me ample opportunities to help contribute.

The goal he tallied on Wednesday in the 6-5 victory over Cedar Rapids was his first career USHL goal. He later assisted on a goal scored by Adam Larkin.

Snuggerud was drafted by the Lumberjacks in the 16th round (227th overall) during the 2012 USHL Entry Draft.  He is committed to play for the University of Nebraska-Omaha out of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) following his junior career.

So far this season, two Lumberjacks have been chosen by the league for their weekly honors in Snuggerud and Matt Iacopelli (“Co-Forward of the Week on Oct. 21).

The Lumberjacks will play a home-and-home weekend series against the Youngstown Phantoms this weekend beginning on Friday in Youngstown at 7:05 p.m. and concluding Saturday in Muskegon at 7:15 p.m.

Saturday’s game features Shoe-Lover Night presented by Designer Shoe Warehouse where each fan in attendance will receive a special gift from Designer Shoe Warehouse, and there will also be fun-filled activities for the women in attendance including those presented by Glamazon Artistic Hair Styles.
