The Muskegon Lumberjacks took a one-goal lead into the final minute of regulation before falling 5-4 in overtime to the host Dubuque Fighting Saints on Friday night.

Muskegon held a 4-3 lead in the final minute before Dubuque pulled its goalie and scored in 39 second remaining in regulation.

Then, 1:03 into the overtime, Keegan Ford scored to give the hosts the victory. Muskegon did earn one point in the standings heading into Saturday night’s home game against Cedar Rapids.

The Fighting Saints came out flying in the opening period, outshooting the Jacks 20-4 and scoring the game’s only two goals.

In the second period, Muskegon’s Matt Iacopelli and Matt Mendelson scored to even the score at 2-all.

The Fighting Saints scored later in the period and took a 3-2 lead into the third period.

Goals by Robbie Demontis and Mendelson gave the Jacks not only a tie, but a one-goal lead.

Jordan Uhelski faced 38 shots and stopped 33 for Muskegon. Dubuque had a 38-25 advantage in shots on goal.
