LUDINGTON – The Ludington girls basketball team relied on free-throw shots in the waning moments of its Lakes 8 opener with Tri-County, sinking four foul freebies to secure the 49-44 victory over the Vikings.

Down 43-42, Ludington’s Clair Flewelling hit two foul shots with 50 seconds left, and then two more with 30 seconds to provide the go-ahead and winning points, respectively.

Tuesday night, Ludington raced past Shelby 62-34 in the season opener.

Brandy Thomas finished with 10 points, with Kalli Wahr adding eight, and Ali Plamondon added seven, while Kristen Reidenbach finished with seven assists, six boards and four steals in the victory.
