Taylor Richards scored 16 of her game-high 34 points in the second quarter to lead Fruitport Calvary Christian to a 74-32 non-league win over Mason County Eastern in girls basketball.

Richards scored 26 first-half points and finished with 17 rebounds and four assists.

Sister Allyson Richards followed with 25 points and 11 rebounds.

“We’re getting a lot of good shots and they’re working hard on the boards,” said Fruitport coach Brad Richards. “I thought tonight we had very unselfish passing and got a lot of good looks for the kids.”

The Eagles broke open a 17-6 first quarter lead with a 24-point second quarter that led to a 41-17 halftime edge.

Point guard Brianna Zehr scored eight points and had five assists and six steals for Fruitport Calvary Christian (4-0). Freshman Jordyn Hamilton led in assists with six.
