Taylor Richards scored 20 points and Allyson Richards added 15 as Fruitport Calvary edged Holton 46-44 in a season opening game on Tuesday night.

The teams were tied 22-all at halftime and FCC outscored the Red Devils 24-22 in the second half.

Jacki Stone led Holton with 16 points and six steals.

Rachel Younts added 11 points and 12 rebounds for Holton.

“We knew they were going to be a very good team and we’re trying to make our schedule tougher, said FCC coach Brad Richards. “We knew there was a chance we could lose this game, but I’m just real pleased with the way our kids competed and fought back and showed a lot of character and courage.”
