MUSKEGON – The Orchard View boys basketball team stayed close for two quarters at Friday night’s opener against Lakes 8 opponent Tri-County (1-1, 1-0) before succumbing to the Vikings’ pressure, falling 59-39.

“I thought we played pretty well in the first half,” said Orchard View head coach Ken Overla. “Defensively, I thought we really got after it. But after half time, I thought we looked and acted like we had already lost the game.”

After trailing by one, 13-12, after one quarter, and by just three, 22-19, at the break, the Cardinals were outscored 18-7 in the third as the Vikings pulled away.

“We need to get to work on our offense,” admitted Overla.

Brandon Edwards led Orchard View with 10 points, and Maraki Taylor added nine points, with Steven Reese pulling down six boards and Bobby Clanton adding five boards in the loss.
