The Greenville boys basketball team used its run-and-gun fast pace offense and pressure defense to defeat Reeths-Puffer 93-59 in a non-league opener for both teams Tuesday night.

Reeths-Puffer (0-1) was led by Deandre Oakes-Owens’ 23 points and nine rebounds.  Troy Gilmore had a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Jalen Cooley had 11 points and six rebounds, while Tristan Wright added eight points and 13 rebounds in a losing effort.

“I was happy to get almost 60 (points),” said Reeths-Puffer coach Dave Ingles.  “They were doing the full court press, into the half-court trap and subbing every 45 seconds.”

The Rockets, who missed their first two breakaway layups, fell behind 8-2 in the opening minutes and were never able to get back into the game.

The Yellowjackets were led by Ian Cooper with 22 points.
