Taylor Richards poured in 33 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in Fruitport Calvary Christian’s 67-37 win over Muskegon Heights Academy on Thursday.
The Eagles wasted little time taking a 25-11 first-quarter lead and a 49-20 lead into halftime.
Allyson Richards also led the way for Fruitport Calvary Christian with 19 points and 13 rebounds.
The Tigers started the game with a 5-0 lead but the Eagles responded with a Taylor Richards 3-pointer from the wing and never looked back.
“We got a lot of minutes for kids that need those minutes,” said Fruitport Calvary Christian coach Brad Richards. “Heights brings a lot of speed and has definitely improved from last year.
The Tigers finished the contest with a 17-4 run and were led by Diendreka Watkins-Oliver with 15 points.
Point guard Brianna Zier fought off a harassing Tigers defense and had 11 assists while getting five steals on defense.
“She (Zier) earned those assists,” said Richards. “She fought out of traps and set up a lot of our points.”
Becca Wolffis played big around the basket for the Eagles with 12 rebounds and seven steals.
