Post player Emily MacArthur opened the season with a bang, scoring 26 points and pulling down eight rebounds, helping Whitehall down Western Michigan Christian 52-42 Tuesday in non-league girls basketball action.

The victory gave Whitehall its first opening game win in four seasons.

The Vikings only led at halftime 26-23, but took control by outscoring the Warriors 19-4 in the third quarter.

Jenna Pesch had 13 points, including two 3-pointers, for Whitehall. Robin Gould added three steals and two rebounds for the winners.

Lindsey Johnson and Olivia Varnado paced Western Michigan Christian with 15 and 11 points, respectively.
