Mason County Central had a historical night on Wednesday as the Spartans defeated North Muskegon 57-36 in boys basketball.

Kody Ambrose became the seventh player in MCC history to notch the 1,000 point plateau was the story of the night.

Ambrose had 17 points to lead the Spartans to victory.  The biggest basket of Ambrose’s night came off a layup with three minutes left in the game.

“He’s been on the varsity since he was a freshman. I’m proud of him for reaching this feat after all the effort he’s put into getting to be a 1,000 point player.” stated coach Jeff Tuka after the game.

Coach Tuka’s brother also is a member of the 1,000 point club as he scored 1,016 points for Mason County Central in 1983.

Josh Ritzema added 10 points for the Spartans, while Johnny Shafer scored eight points.

MCC lead 28-19 at the half and 40-27 after the third quarter.

Antonio Gordon led North Muskegon with 16 points.
