Muskegon Community College women snuck past Jackson Community College 69-65 after taking a long break due to the inclement weather.

The Jayhaws played Jackson even to a 63-63 tie with less than a minute remaining. Alli Wierda changed that when she knocked down the game winning shot from the right corner with 48 seconds remaining.

Sonnie Kurnat found Wierda after she drew drove around a Krystal Geers screen that drew the defense away from Wierda.

MCC followed up with a defensive stop and ran a play for Krystal Geers who iced the win with a layup.

Geers led MCC with 21 points and eight rebounds, Abby Rodriguez added 15 points and four assists and Katie McKinnon followed with 12 points and six rebounds.

The Jayhawks improve to 10-7 on the season and play Lansing Community College home on Saturday at 1 p.m.
