Holland Black River girls basketball team bounced Fruitport Calvary Christian 52-38 on Wednesday night. It was the first conference loss for the Eagles that dated back to 2012.

Fruitport Calvary Christian (5-1) struggled to a 14-2 first quarter deficit and managed just 3-of-23 shooting in the first half.

Taylor Richards led the Eagles with 21 points, 17 in the second half. Sophia Zelenka scored 12 points.

“You can’t step on the floor and think you are going to win every game”, said Fruitport Calvary Christian coach Brad Richards. “We were out worked and out rebound and out hustled from basically the opening tip to the end of the game”

The Eagles had won 19 consecutive games in the Alliance League.
