The Fruitport came up big in the first half, and then held on Friday night for the 56-55 win over Lakes 8 foe Tri-County in boys basketball action.

The host Trojans rang up an 18-9 first-quarter lead and then unleashed a 22-9 run in the second to lead 40-18 at the break.

But the Vikings battled back, cutting the lead to 13 after three, and then outscored Fruitport 20-8 in the fourth to nearly steal the victory.

Fruitport had nine players score, led by Travis Grimm with 11 points and 11 boards, while Matt Umstead had 10 point, and Luke Brown added seven points in the win.

Kyle Slater-Bakhan led the Vikings with a game-high 21 points.
