A tough first half proved to be the downfall for the Holton girls basketball team, which fell 63-49 to Morley-Stanwood Thursday in Central State Activities Association action.

The Red Devils (3-5, 3-4) fell behind 17-11 after one quarter and trailed 36-19 at halftime. They only had a six-point deficit in the second half, but it was too little, too late.

Lindsay Veersma had 17 points for Morley-Stanwood (8-1, 7-1) while Mikayla Thomson added 14.  Jackie Stone and Rachel Younts paced Holton with 10 points apiece. Younts added 10 rebounds while Stone had six steals.
