The West Michigan LakeHawks, Muskegon’s American Basketball Association affiliate, picked up a good win Saturday, defeating Team Network 119-108.

West Michigan’s Nate Jennings got the LakeHawks moving early, posting 10 points in the first quarter to lead his team to the 30-28 lead after one.

Though Team Network’s zone defense did a good job of slowing down the LakeHawk offense, Head Coach Ron Jenkins made some adjustments at the half-time break, pushing the team to a decisive, 35-points third quarter, led by Will Wright’s 11 points in the frame as part of his game-high 29-point effort.

The LakeHawks turned up their full-court pressure during that stretch, while West Michigan’s Brandon Givens also helped his team with most his 28 points in the second half, followed by teammate Ralph Monday, who added 20 points.

“We are constantly learning (about) one another and looking to gain more momentum as we work each day to improve in our areas of weakness,” said Jenkins. “My guys work hard every game to perform well in front of our home crowd.”

West Michigan’s Nate Jennings finished the game with 15 points 18 Rebounds, while Bernard Webb had 13 rebounds and four blocks, and Abner Kamps finished with 12 rebounds.

Monday also had 16 Rebounds, two blocks and three steals, and Takarri Churchwell lead the LakeHawks with seven assists in the victory.

The LakeHawks will play again at home versus Coast II Coast next Saturday, Jan. 25.
