It didn’t take the host Mason County Central girls basketball team very long Tuesday night to exert control in their league contest with Montague (1-6).

It took about one quarter, in fact.

The Spartans outscored the visiting Wildcats 16-5 in the opening quarter, and then held on for the victory.

The Spartans’ Madison Geer poured in a game-high 23 points, while also gathering nine rebounds, dishing out three assists and causing five steals.

Senior Elyse Taylor led Montague with 11 points, and junior Kenadee Shugars added 10 points in the loss.
