The Muskegon Big Reds have moved up to 44th nationally in the USA Today Sports Super 25 listing for boys high school basketball teams.

Muskegon went from 49th in the Jan. 7 listing to 44th in the Jan. 14 listing. The Big Reds were 5-0 for the season through games of Jan. 11 for the most recent ranking.

In another change in the Jan. 14 listing, Chicago Curie High School, now 13-1 overall, moved up from the eighth spot to seventh. Curie won three games in the previous week with one victory by two points, 65-63, against Villa Angela-St.Joseph, of Cleveland.

Muskegon handed Curie its only loss, 73-66, in overtime in Muskegon, earlier in January.

The first five spots in the listing stayed the same. The top spot continues to be held by Montverde, Fla., Academy, now 15-0. The other spots in the first five are held by teams from California at No.2, Memphis, Tenn. at No. 3; Seattle, Wash., No. 4; and Oak Hill Academy from Mouth of Wilson, Va., at No. 5. Oak Hill’s season record though last weekend was 21-1.
