The Muskegon Heights boys basketball team had no trouble Tuesday night versus host North Muskegon, exploding for a 28-8 first quarter run and then coast to the 62-39 victory in non-league action.

The Norse (2-5) suffered nine turnovers in the first frame and never recovered. Heights Academy (7-1) got 14 points from senior Eddie Tornes in the first eight minutes, and the senior went on to have a game high 18-point effort.

“After that first period,” said Norse head coach Jeff Cooke. “We were able to gain our composure and play evenly for the most part the rest of the game.”

Heights senior guard Aaron Sydnor finished with 11 points and six boards in the win, while Norse senior guard Antonio Gordon led his team with 11 points. North Muskegon senior Reese McCamant added nine points, and teammates Ryan Gannon and Ben Gautraud both pulled down five rebounds apiece.
